Be an activist today in 3 easy minutes

Alright gang, look. I want you to do something. I just did it, it was easy. But nobody will care if only me and Erica at Compassion Over Killing do it. They WILL care if all of us do it.
Here’s the thing: Morningstar Farms uses eggs in their vegetarian products and those eggs are coming from hens kept in battery cages. Makes no sense, but they are owned by Kellogg and they don’t think the way we do. They think about the bottom line, which is what we can affect by letting them know we just can’t buy their products until they change.
So I want you to call them, I just did, it really only took like two minutes, the lady I spoke to was very nice. You don’t have to give them any personal info if you don’t want to, they aren’t going to argue with you or defend eggs, the people in the phone are just going to take down your concerns and thank you for calling. Then pass those concerns on up the line.
So! Do this:
Call Kellogg®’s customer feedback hotline:
1-800-962-1413.
Hours (Eastern Standard Time):
Mon. - Thurs.: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Say: “Representative.”
Press 2 for product information
Press 1 for general inquiries
Learn more about this campaign and other ways you can help at Morningstar-Egg-Facts.com.
It’s easy!
Here is what I said:
I enjoy your products but can’t continue to buy them because the eggs you use come from hens kept in battery cages. I’m sure you can make your products without eggs, other companies have done so. I’d love to keep eating Morningstar products and look forward to the day when I am able to. Please try and find substitutes for those eggs.
Go do some work!

I wrote an email the day you posted this, and got this response today:
“Thank you for contacting us about the use of eggs in our Morningstar Farms® and Worthington® products. We appreciate the opportunity to explain our position regarding the source of egg ingredients used in our products.
Our goal is to ensure that consumers have a choice when considering our brands. We currently offer several Morningstar Farms® and Worthington® products that do not contain eggs and are considered vegan. Some of these products are recent
additions formulated to reduce our dependence on traditionally sourced eggs. Our Morningstar Farms® vegan products include:
Meal Starters™ Chik’n Strips
Meal Starters™ Steak Strips
Grillers® Original Vegan Burger
Meal Starters™ Grillers® Recipe Crumbles™
Meal Starters™ Sausage-Style Recipe Crumbles™
Vegan Burger made with Organic Soy
In addition, we offer 11 Worthington® products that are made without eggs.
We are currently exploring the use of cage-free eggs in our products and we are also looking at making more of our Morningstar Farms products egg free. We recognize that this is a sensitive issue and we are committed to actively exploring how we can use fewer or no caged eggs. We appreciate the information you provided to us. Thank you, again, for your interest in our products.”

I sent an email too, and got the same response as above - which i was going to post here but i see it’s a formality!
i should have known; i was real excited when i saw, “We are currently exploring the use of cage-free eggs in our products
and we are also looking at making more of our Morningstar Farms products egg free.”
does anyone remember the Morningstar Chili Pot Pies? That shit was off the hook - I’m fairly sure they were vegan too, it’s been so long I forget.
anyway.

Glad to see they are doing something about this.
I will never understand why companies offering vegetarian products include eggs in them, effectively isolating themselves from a portion of their potential market.
I want to ask them.. Ever hear of ‘research’ before development? (So now I have their number and will do just that. Thanks for this post!)
